Crystal Palace's Irish young gun SEAN SCANNELL has praised Clinton Morrison for his support this season.
Both have been named in a 40-man Republic of Ireland squad this week which will be whittled down to 28 for games against Serbia and Colombia in May.
SCANNELL was called up to the senior squad after impressing on his U21 debut against against Montenegro last month.
The 17-year-old, who qualifies for the Republic through his Irish father, is grateful to advice the experienced Morrison has offered.
“He’s been great to me ever since I’ve been going away with Ireland," said SCANNELL. "He’s told me to go there, play my game and not be scared about anything. Clinton has been through it all - going away meeting people he hasn’t known - and has been very helpful to me.
“I’d like to play for Ireland with Clinton. I know he’s been desperate to get back. Because he’s been helpful with me, you can tell he’s interested in playing for Ireland and seeing how they’re doing.”
He added: "I'd love to play with Robbie Keane as well. I've grown up watching him so to get the chance would be a dream."
SCANNELL was crowned Ireland's Young Player of the Year in February, receiving his gong from Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson.
